We never really know what someone else is feeling. I believe that we crave recognition and appreciation. Since I was a child I have loved going to the mailbox. It makes me happy when I open my mailbox and see a card or a letter!! I mean a real card or letter - not an advertisement, not a bill, not junk mail. To me it means someone has thought about me and taken a moment out of their day to let me know that. Time is probably our most valuable commodity and for someone to spend even a little of their time to reach out touches my heart.
So sometime soon take a few minutes to send someone you love a card or a note. If you have time or the inclination to create a card, that's wonderful. If not, please don't let that stop you. Just a few lines on a sheet of notebook paper might be the encouragement that someone so desperately needs. Say "I'm thinking of you", "I love you", "I miss you" or "I believe in you". A card may not change the world in general, but it may change that person's world.
Hug someone you love today.
