Do you have a tool box of stamping/crafting basics that's ready to go? Something you can just grab, head out the door and know that (with a little paper) you have at least the minimum tools needed to be creative? I want to share with you my Basics in a Box. It's actually used just as much when I craft at home as when I travel.
My Basics in a Box is a Stampin' Up! wood-mount case that I have decorated with designer series paper in a pattern and color that makes me happy. When I first made my toolbox, I had a Tuxedo Black Memento Pad, a package of Stampin' Dimensionals, SNAIL adhesive, a Bone Folder and my Stampin' Up! paper snips. Over time there have been a few changes. The Memento ink pad was replaced with our fabulous new Basic Black Archival Ink Pad, and I have added a Stampin' Up paper piercing tool and a 6-inch ruler. Hard to believe all of that fits in the case, but it does!
If you'd like to make your own Basics in a Box kit, the links to the content are here for your convenience. The price for the wood-mount case is actually for four cases. The extra cases are perfect for storing embellishments, created cards, cardstock scraps and so many other things. If you do place an order, please use Hostess Code PBZJJ6HV, and I'll have a special gift for you. (Of course, as always, if your order is more than $150 keep the Hostess Rewards for yourself!)
Being from south Louisiana, there's also a little lagniappe involved. When you order the kit contents (minimum of $50 before tax and shipping), I'll send you the ruler and a cover for your case! The cover may not look exactly like mine, but it will be similar.
Wishing you happy stamping and "ink"spiration!
Do you like to craft with the special young ones in your life? My soon-to-be 7 year old granddaughter loves to do craft projects, and I know she is going to want to do this one! So simple and a great way to spend time with someone you love and pass down a passion for creating.
This week's Weekly Deals are fabulous!! I cannot believe the Envelope Punch Board is on sale!! If you don't already own it, NOW is the time to get it! There are so many cute things to do with it and now that we have the new envelope paper it's a must-must have. The Bow Builder Punch is also perfect for upcoming Christmas projects and presents. As always, if you have any questions I am only an email, comment or phone call away.
A very special little lady is having a birthday party this weekend, and I have had so much fun making tags for her party favors! The theme has primary colors as background so I went with Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point and Garden Green cardstock and used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the sentiment. I used a stamp from the You're So Sweet stamp set and a framelit from the Tags & Labels set to cut out and cut off the parenthesis on the side.
Just as a happy little accident I discovered after cutting out the tags that I'm left with these little frames that I can use on future projects so they are tucked away in what I call my "snippet" drawer. That's where I put the little bits and pieces that aren't just scraps, but are actually ready to go on other things - random stamped images, cut out shapes, banners, etc. that weren't used for some reason. There are all kinds of goodies in my snippet drawer!
Do you keep your scraps and/or snippets or is it just me that can't bear to throw paper away?! Please leave me a comment and share how you store your scraps and tell me I'm not alone.
Wishing you "ink"spiration!
I've been MIA for quite a while on my blog and sporadic at best on my Facebook page. All of this stems from my desire to have the prettiest, most perfect blog and the most entertaining and engaging Facebook posts. I won't even go into my Instagram account! I've spent the last couple of weeks - on and off - organizing my craft room. While I'm very happy with the way things are so neatly arranged I realized it was a procrastination tactic on my part due mostly to my perfectionism struggle. You see my (faulty) thinking is that if everything is neat I'll be able to create the perfect card. It's a way to justify not actually creating anything. It's a way to justify not posting.
I also have a habit of comparing my creations to those I see on other blogs and Facebook groups. Of course, in my mind, my cards seldom measure up. Today I decided that I was going to create SOMETHING no matter what!! So I created one of those "thinking of you" cards to send to a friend who is experiencing a major life change this next week. I hope that she'll overlook what I see as imperfections in the card and will instead see my heart for her. I have been in her shoes and want her to know that she too will survive!
I share this with you because I wonder if possibly you're telling yourself any of the following untruths -
I'm not creative; I'm not talented; I'm not as good as; I'm not (fill in the blank). The truth is YOU ARE and I AM. We are each created uniquely and bring our own gifts to this world. I've decided the key is to just begin. So I'm doing something I encourage you to do if your creative juices aren't flowing. I got a little jump-start inspiration from one of the blogs I follow. I made the card shown below and put it in the mail to my friend today. I can't tell you how good that feels!! The pictures aren't the best, but I refuse to wait until I can get the perfect shot to post!
My plan is to build up a gallery of cards that you will be able to draw on when you need inspiration -- and directions! You'll be able to click on a link that will take you to a gallery of my projects with a supply list and directions to create that project for yourself.
Will you join me in just beginning?

It's been a while since I have posted and, for that, I apologize. It has been one of those seasons in life that we sometimes experience. I lost a very dear friend very unexpectedly and since then there have been two other losses in the lives of people very close to me.
The friend that I lost was my biggest supporter for my business and was always available as a sounding board. She loved me -- and so very many others -- unconditionally. I will miss her deeply. If there's someone you love that you haven't talked to recently, please call them or visit with them. We always think there's time ...
I am a big fan of Holley Gerth and when I came across this blog entry, I felt that I had to share it with you. Art in whatever form you express it is important. Please don't tell yourself you aren't creative! There are many different forms of creativity - find yours and share it with the world! Enjoy Holley's blog ...
You are appreciated,
